Safeguard Iowa Partnership
Iowa Business Council members are acutely aware of the critical need to be prepared for, respond to, and recover from natural and human-caused disasters. Government cannot shoulder this burden alone.
Responding to this need, the Iowa Business Council teamed up with several state agencies and the nonprofit Business Executives for National Security (BENS) to launch the Safeguard Iowa Partnership (SIP) in January 2007.
WHAT IS THE SAFEGUARD IOWA PARTNERSHIP?
The Safeguard Iowa Partnership is a voluntary coalition of the state’s business and government leaders, who will integrate business resources, expertise, and response plans with those of government during all stages of disaster management to ensure preparedness and resillency on a state and local level by:
- Building strong relationships between business and government
- Expanding existing capabilities
- Promoting awareness of available resources
- Developing communication systems
- Facilitating education and training
SIP MISSION
The mission of the SIP is to strengthen the capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters through public-private collaboration.
SIP VISION
It is the SIP’s vision to ensure safe, resilient communities for the residents and businesses of Iowa.
